(4 oz flight pour at the brewery yesterday)

This one did not dazzle me during the first sip or two... Give it a few minutes, and the underlying hop character reveals itself as beautifully bitter and on point for the style... What threw me off and might throw another off is the fact that it drinks dirty, in that its malt character is more on point with a doppelbock, and its body is too fluffed/loose, not taut and clean... They don't have many other lagers in their database, and this was the only one on the menu, leading me to suspect an Alt yeast having been used in this... Might want to approach this like an Alt/Bock hybrid, or just call a spade a spade - it's an Altbier. I do agree with another reviewer - this one will grow on you. (2371)

Look - muddy water, pretty bad looking beer
Smell - malty chocolate
Taste - Same as the smell with a roasty taste as well
Feel - light body with a slight crisp carb
Overall - just ok

Super muddy sepia with almost no head but for a thin chain. The disappointing appearance inside a classic shaker pint is a deceptive introduction.

Savory toasted pumpernickel with a lightly herbal and woody tang take the chewy medium body's light carbonation into hints of tobacco, dark grains, wheats and even grasses before finishing just dry.

This was a solid bock that really uplifted my palate, and my spirits, as I initially felt let down by this tourist trap of a "National Park." There were some upsides to our visit, to be sure, but temper those expectations.
