Bourbon Barrel Aged Night Walker

this is outstanding, one of the best beers i have had from these guys and one of the better barrel aged stouts in the city right now. its aged in mile high spirits whiskey barrels, which as a company has never done much for me, but there is some incredible synergy with this beer, and the result is next level. dense coal black in the glass with a light brown head, thick as shaving cream and lasting nicely, web lacing as it drinks down. the nose is amazing, so much oak on this, char and wood long before whiskey, which is great with the dark grains in here, baking chocolate and raw cocoa notes, burnt coffee and bread crusts too, faint vanilla along with all of that when i taste it. the flavor is really complex, with a cool fruity middle like raisin and fig, a chocolate dipped character without being sweet, and a cool maple and molasses complexion from the whiskey. its not boozy and its not overdone, there is a ton of body and it drinks as smooth as velvet. i like the new wood lumbery nature of this, and i like the somewhat subtle whiskey character that it has. really fantastic stuff, gives me a new appreciation for a whiskey i havent much cared for. seriously next level! beer of the night in here for our whole group!
