an okay sour beer, this is not what these guys do best in my opinion but not a bad beer either, spiked with blackberries and sage. its pretty darn tart, this pinkish rose liquid, with a jammy sweet nose to balance it off, and a way more mild sage complexion than i was anticipating. i love blackberries and sage together ala the blackberry sage whiskey smash, and was hoping for more interplay between the two here, but its the berries and the acidity that dominate, which seems odd for how pungent and readily detectable to the taste sage always is. some cool red wine character to this, tannic and tangy and drying at the same time, lots of fairly natural blackberry, port, and citrusy lacto sourness. its intense but somehow pretty drinkable still. i wish for a little moe grain character too, its thin and juicy without it, but its agreeable and summery and clean as these go, better than some of the other sour types i have had from them. i cant help but thinking that this one feels like a missed opportunity though to do something really unique and incredible, it falls short of high expectations for me...
