Pours a very dark brown color with khaki colored head. Coffee, cocoa, roasted malt, and some earthiness on the nose; follows onto the palate. Medium bodied. Finishes with cocoa and roast.

Biloxi Black Gold exploded out of the bottle, at the first crack, so that was a cleanup. The appearance was dark and with light shining through it, at me, it looked like prune juice. Aroma was almost nonexistent, but I did pick up some standard "beer" smell and maybe some milk chocolate. Taste is of some char, dark brown bread crust, cream, chocolate, coffee, and a fairly good amount of bitterness. Mouthfeel is light and watery, and Biloxi Black Gold finishes somewhat powdery dry.

"Black Gold is our award-winning beer based on extra stouts historically brewed in Ireland which traditionally boasted higher alcohol and hopping rates, enabling it to keep for long sea voyages to british colonies throughout the world. Featuring the unmistakable deep- dark color and roasted malt flavors you'd expect in a stout, Black Gold, with its crisp yet restrained bitterness, rewards the drinker with a velvety smooth sensation on the palate." Brewed in the style of a Foreign / Export Stout. Available as a year-round release in 12 oz. bottled 6 packs and on draft.
Poured from a 12 oz. bottle to a snifter glass.
(Appearance) Pours a foamy frothed head of a pale tan color over a dark cola brown body. Retention is average and lacing is light and spotty. 3.75
(Smell) Moderately roasted malts, cocoa nibs, earthy bitterness, moderately sweet base. Potency is moderate. 3.75
(Taste) Roasted malts, earthy roast, subtle lactose sweetness, burnt chocolate. Rich, earthy and robust. 3.75
(Mouthfeel) Texture is silky, slick, lightly chewy, medium dry. Carbonation is moderately frothy with a medium crisp finish. Body is medium for the style, medium/heavy overall. Balance is slightly earthy bitter over sweet. Alcohol presence is mild and there are no off characters. 3.75
(Overall) A very solid export stout with a lot of rich earthy flavor, quite drinkable and enjoyable. 3.75
