pours a hazy pale yellow-with-orange-tinges gold body with a cream colored froth head that billows and has high retention, leaving behind copious amounts of splattered thin sudsy lacing as it settles to a nearly solid cap with raised halo

aroma is pretty pungent; bright and mellow fruit, citrus, slight herb dank, a little spiciness, and sweet malty backbone.

taste follows that up with melon, lime, grapefruit peel, herb, and a healthy helping of sticky malt. the balance between sweet and bitter is superb. at once easy and packed with hops.

mouthfeel is high carbonation and medium-thick body that runs smooth, if not a little chewy, and finishes nice and dry. aftertaste is grapefruit and herb.

overall:
it's been said, but I wouldn't call this a West Coast IPA by a longshot. it's much more like a decently bittered and herb pushing NEIPA. the haze, the fruitiness of it and the overall feel is very NEIPA. grapefruit and melon and decent maltiness is a nice callback to OG West Coast IPAs, but it's more of a sly reference to the style than a dedication.
rant notwithstanding, this IPA is absolutely superb. it's easy, it's hoppy as hell, pushing dank nods and cranking out the malt. really dig this one, even if I feel it's mislabeled. would be more effective as an herb themed IPA :P

Pours golden in color with hints of copper and half an inch of creamy head atop. Lots of lacing as you drink. Lots of tiny particulates. Aroma is predominantly melon and candied malts with some spicy, herbalness in the background. Flavor is actually malt-forward to start; toasty, bready grains lending way to the aforementioned melon and grapefruit rind towards the swallow. Finishes crisp and dry with a balance of malts and grapefruit rind on the tongue. Mouthfeel is medium bodied with zesty carbonation and a fair amount of chewiness. Pretty easy to drink at 6.6% ABV, the alcohol is only slightly discernable.

Overall, this is a pretty balanced IPA, I expected it to be much more hop-forward. I wouldn't quite call this West coast style. That said, it's pretty good. I definitely wouldn't turn one down, but I don't know that I would seek it out, either. Cheers!
