22 oz bottle into a teku.
Appearance: Pours a clearish golden color. The head is three fingers high and white in shade. Much like the other beer I've had from these guys, the texture and retention are really lacking. Also much like the other beer I've had from these guys, pouring in the last bit from the bottle improves both facets of the head. Still no lacing on the glass, though. (3)
Smell: I only pick up a modicum of spiciness - and it's more of a general Belgian yeast rather than a saison one to me. I do pick up hints of lemon and honey, though. Also, if I concentrate, I can pick up a touch of grassy hops. Compared with Self Portrait (and the fact that I really like this style), the nose is a letdown. (3)
Taste: It starts off with the lemon appearing subtly. The lack of saison spice that let me down aromatically doesn't let me down on the taste buds - this finishes with nice notes of lavender, black pepper, and grass (they also appear more vividly after a few sips). Honey provides a subtle sweetness throughout. A well balanced brew that nails the flavor a saison should nail, but doesn't expand much beyond that. (3.5)
Mouthfeel: This has the kind of mouthfeel a saison should have: round with a decent substantiality, yet dry and airy. Powerful but well-integrated carbonation is also a plus. I'll have absolutely zero trouble polishing this bomber off solo. (4)
Overall: There's a thread going on about beers that smell better than they taste. This, though, smells overly mild but tastes pretty damn good. At the end of the day, it's still only 'good'. It lacks the nuanced, cohesive depth to be 'great'. But hey, many American brewers can't even brew a 'good' saison to start with! (3.5)
3.4/5: Hopefully, this is the beginning of a good journey through Rexx Rsrv, and not the end

Limited aroma, not much of a typical saison flavor. Was ok
