Poured from 12oz can into a dimpled mug.
Appearance: rich, dark amber hue with no haze and a thin layer of dark ivory foam. More head would be nice, but the body is just brilliant.
Smell: bready and biscuity with a mild dose of earthy hops. Pretty middle-of-the-road for the style.
Taste: just like the aroma, with plenty of earthiness and biscuit. It finishes kind of sweet, but while it's well-crafted, it's pretty unremarkable.
Mouthfeel: medium body with a moderate carbonation and decent creaminess.
Overall: it's a straightforward red ale that I'm sure would appeal well to fans of the style.
