Levante Brewing Co. "Abbaye Tripel (The Duke)"
on tap at the brewery on 24 February 2017
$7 / 12 oz.
Notes: Listed at 10.3% ABV with 29 IBUs. Clear golden body beneath a creamy head of white that holds well and leaves some nice lacing. Very good head retention. The aroma is yeasty with a chalky mineral side over sweet malt, a delicate fruitiness, and a dusting of light spiciness. The flavor follows with notes of candy sugar, apple, subtle lemon, and very mild pineapple. It's sweetish but it dries in the finish; perfectly balanced as all of the Levante beers are, and really quite drinkable despite its strength - the alcohol never really shows, but it's presence is there to let you know it's a tripel. I don't think this is available to go, it wasn't listed as such, but I'd have definitely grabbed a growler if I could have.
