Doctrine of Phonetic Equivalents aka D.O.P.E. is a 100% Cryo-Hop Triple IPA. 10.7% ABV is entirely imperceptible as massive malt sweetness fuses with a dense, dank, and tropical combustion of Cryo Citra, Mosaic, and Simcoe hops. This ain't beer, this is D.O.P.E. *Contains Lactose*

There may be a silver lining to COVID-19 in that I am working at a full-time + job that I like, I have lost a LOT of weight as a result, I am not drinking like I had been & I have seen the light on having beer delivered! I got an offer from Levante & decided to see what was what in Whoville. I was unhappy that they, like so many others, were not selling singles, but OTOH, there was a plethora of Crowlers on offer. 8=O It was determined long ago that a Crowler is simply an oversized CAN & therefore qualifies for inCANsion in The CANQuest (tm). This makes me happy.

From the Crowler/CAN: "D.O.P.E. Triple IPA"; "'Contains Lactose'".

I bought some nice glassware through/from Ollie's Discount Warehouse in the early days of the quarantine & this seemed like a valid ocCANsion to use one of the large glass steins.

BTW, "stein" is German for "stone", but this was glassware, not stoneware, hence my characterization.

There was not really much trick to this one. My Crack! revealed their generosity in filling it to the brim. There was no need for gentility with its inCANsion of lactose, but I also wanted to guard against the dreaded dribble in CANducting my Glug. I was highly successful & wound up with just under two fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, eggshell-white head with very good retention. Color was a muddy, turbid Golden-Amber (SRM = > 5, < 7). Nose was less dope and more Mosaic with a boat-load of tropical fruitiness & some cattiness as Simcoe did her kitty business in the CANorner. 8=O Sister site Untappd mentioned "Cryo-Citra", but I was not getting it on the nose. Hmm. Mouthfeel was big & full, like a dollop had been scooped into my mouth & onto my tongue. The lactose gave it a creamy softness that made it simply glide across my tongue & down my throat. Whoa! The taste was mainly (especially?) of a tropical fruit smoothie with a touch of grapefruit & CANgerine citrus as well as Simcoe CANtinuing to be naughty in the background, giving it a cool, minty, catty quality. This was just too easy to drink! We're talking dangerously easy, given its ABV (my Crowler read 10.7%, BTW). This had the potential to be a real Sneaky Pete, jumping you unawares from the shadows to administer a beat-down of huge proportion. Phew! I was left to revel & bask in its fruit juiciness as I CANtemplated my next move. It was almost certainly going to involve a lie-down. Zzz. Warming, the minty cattiness really started to become assertive as the fruit flavors all seemed to swirl into one CANother, making an indescribable but delicious mélange. Yum! This shizznit was D.O.P.E., yo! Finish was CANother area that was tough to pin down. I'm going with semi-dry since it never struck me as being sweet. OTOH, it really was not all that dry, either. Hmm. YMMV.
