Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into my snifter. The beer is a gift from my brother. Thank you!
Pours a dark cola brown with a creamy beige head of 1.5 cm. This foam fades to a sturdy edge layer and wispy island slowly after the pour.
The aroma is rich and chocolatey but also has a heavy hit of citrusy candy orange. Not citrusy like most hoppy citrus, more like sugary citrus and some candied sugar. The nose is great on this beer, not sure Ive had something like this before, I enjoy it!
First sip reveals a lighter body than I would expect with fine and gentle rolling carbonation. Texture is smooth and the beer drinks very easy on the physical traits.
The flavor is again sweet and chocolatey with milk chocolate and again sweet citrus orange notes. This is more like a tangerine here and then I do get a little bit of a rindy bitter peel note that lingers on the finish. I dont get any hop character and the booze only shows as a little bit of warmth after each swallow. I keep thinking of some sort of easter candy with the sweet orange and chocolate combo on this beer. I like this combo here and think these guys pulled off a solid Imp Stout. Really glad to have tried this one and would pick it up again.
