Sampling a cellar temp 16 oz can poured into a snifter. Obtained via a trade with @rolltide8425. thank you!
The beer pours a dark cola brown with creamy khaki colored head of 1 cm. this foam fades to a sturdy surface layer and leaves some windowpane lacing when I swirl my glass or take a sip of beer.
The aroma is some dark chocolate and some dark fruit, berries or plum are what I detect. Also a little sweet brown sugar with no real hop presence or character.
First sip reveals a soft and creamy texture with a fairly thick body and very soft carbonation. Slightly coating effect on my palate with each mouthful.
The flavor is sweet chocolate and again some berries or plum flavor and a bit of brown sugar. I also get some light and sweet coffee note here which I didnt get on the nose. Not a lot of roasted note here and again no hop presence.
I do get some alcohol warmth when I swallow which causes me to slow the consumption just a little. But generally this beer drinks dangerously easy in my opinion. Glad to have tried this version of BiB. Will add at least one more to the thread, maybe later this weekend, but certainly by the time Christmas is here! Cheers!

I have been CANxious to drink this beer since it was first CANnounced. I CANaged to score versions from three (3) different breweries & they will be my next focus in The CANQuest (tm). This is the seCANd, alphabetically, of the three & came to me CANtesy of one of the co-owners of Angry,Young & Poor.

From the CAN: "Black Is Beautiful Imperial Stout"; "Brewed to support Justice and equality for People of Color"; "Hosted by Weathered Souls Brewing Co. San Antonio, TX".

I Crack!ed open the vent & decided to go with a steady, gentle C-Line Glug into the awaiting glass with this one. It evinced a pseudo-cascade before forming two-plus fingers of dense, foamy, rocky, deep-tan/light-brown head with decent retention, leaving a load of lacing in its wake. Color was Very Dark Brown to Black/Opaque (SRM = > 34, < 44) with cola highlights at the edges. Nose was more boozy & fruity than in the Iron Hill version. Here, not only did I get fusel alcohol on the nose, but I also smelled cherries as well as a dark chocolatiness. It was not as rich and roasty as in the previous iteration. Hmm. Mouthfeel was REALLY thick & full, like a creamy dollop had been scooped into my mouth & onto my tongue! The taste was quite sweet, not roasty at all, and reminded me of a chocolate-covered cherry. 8=O I have not had one since I overindulged as a kid & got wildly sick as a result, which is perhaps why I eschew CANdies & sweets as an adult. Still, this was an unexpectedly pleasant surprise. Also, its sweetness was not cloying, which would have not been to my liking. I think that the alcohol burn helped with this. Make no mistake, this version was boozy! Finish was sweet & would be a nice dessert beer or as an acCANponiment to coffee. YMMV.
