Pours a dark, ruddy, caramel brown color that approaches black. Two fingers of dark khaki-colored head. Decent retention and moderate, creamy-looking lacing.

Nutty, bready, caramel-like aroma.

Mellower tasting. A touch nutty at first, but that quickly gives way to some cocoa notes, light smoke, a slight Kostritzer-like twang and a fairly bitter, earthy aftertaste. They all meld together quite well.

Medium bodied, very slight chewiness, with moderate carbonation.

I didn’t much car for the first whiff of this, but it has a nicely balanced, fairly traditional taste.
