The Hop Cartel is back and making moves to take over the North American hop game. Using a signature blend of five powerhouse strains, "El Cinco" was formulated to dispense a superlative sensory overload, dripping with candy-like aroma and flavors of juicy tropical fruit, citrus oil, and dank piney resin. The game will never be the same again.

This is a very nice NE IPA, and it tastes a lot like Heady Topper. Floral fragrances, great taste, light mouthfeel without stickiness make this an excellent beer. It obviously is underrated.

On tap.
A - Pours a hazy medium gold with a dense pinky thick layer of foam that doesn't dissipate.
S - Light tropical fruit and citrus.
T - Faded tropical fruit and citrus from start to finish with a pine bitterness at the very end. There's a fair bit of honey malt at the start and finish (old keg?). There's also some residual candy-like citrus lurking in the background after the sip.
M - Big chewy body with light prickly carbonation.
O - Pretty mundane and doesn't come close to matching the description. Will give this one another try if I see it again, I'm guessing the keg might be a little long in the tooth.

Levante Brewing Co. "Hop Cartel: El Cinco"
$8/12 oz. on tap at the brewery on 10 June 2023
Look: Hazy deep gold beneath a short head of white foam. Limited head retention and lacing (dirty bar glass?).
Smell: The aroma is dank, citrusy, and malty.
Taste: Flavors of sweet and grainy malt, orange, citrus pith, light red berries, pineapple, and a touch of pine. Median bitterness with a dry, spicy, and resinous finish. The alcohol is well-cloaked for a beer of 8%.
Feel: Medium bodied but seemingly fuller due to all of the extra proteins. Gently bristling and then smooth.
Overall: Well worth trying.
