From Levante's Website: In the beginning, there was Tickle. Through the power of passion and love, one became two. Tiny Tickle was born. Then, what seemed to be a final Trilogy evolved through Death By Tickle into a Quadrilogy of hedonistic excess and the advent of Extra Tickle. What once represented the finality of mortal life has come full circle to life anew. A fifth state of existence has been revealed, forming a Quintet. Resurrection by Tickle, a Quadruple IPA, emerges powerful and pungent, with a pronounced mango and pineapple bouquet brought forth from unimaginable amounts of Cryo-Hops Citra, Mosaic, and Simcoe, and balanced by the candy-like persuasion of El Dorado. To drink from this cup is to drink straight from source-energy itself.

IT'S ALIVE
Or so reads the ink on the bottom of the can. And I suppose that makes sense as, at 13% ABV, this is a monster of a beer. They're billing it as a "Quadruple IPA", which is a little ridiculous (what's that make Dogfish 120 - "a Sextuple IPA"?), but probably not wholly inaccurate. Anywhoozle, this pours with a massive 3 fingers of off-white head resting atop a cloudy, sorta apricot jam colored body. I'm generally not a fan of how these hazies look, but this one somehow doesn't put me off. The foam gets a little craggy as it recedes and the lacing kind of comes and goes in waves. It's neat looking. Smells more subdued than I figured it would. It's fruit-forward, but I struggle to pick out anything specific. Might just be me. Light citrus in there if I dig deep. A little bread-doughy. Also boozy, even if it's reasonably well-hidden. Not a great nose, though, to be honest. It almost smells like something went sideways somewhere. Guess I'll have to taste it to be certain. Tastes kind of subdued and strange too. No off-flavors or anything, but not as hoppy as you'd expect a "quadruple IPA" to be. Almost zero bitterness. It's kind of just a sugary-sweet malt bomb (this can't be just brewer's sugar or whatever, right?). Not enough hops for balance. Yeah. My lips want to stick together after just a few sips. Candied citrus and alcohol. It's actually slightly reminiscent of orange liqueur. And everyone knows that that stuff is generally kind of grody on it's own. Mouthfeel thankfully isn't syrupy, but it's still on the heavy side. This could have been carbed better to lighten things. Not crazy about this one, personally. Especially at it's steep price point.
