Pours a clear golden copper with a foamy white head that provides moderate lacing and leaves a nice little cap on the body. Looks beautiful in the glass.

The nose features wheat bread and honey, with a bit of caramel and some spicy noble hop aromas for good measure. Very nice.

The malt notes are forward and delicious especially the wheat bread and honey flavors, and the subtle caramel is a nice complement mid-palate, but this beer is made (IMHO) by the spicy noble hop flavors that linger at the back of the palate and guide you into your next drink. Wonderful stuff.

The mouthfeel is medium and crisp, adding to the drinkability. New Oberpfalz really excels at German style beers, and this is no exception. Truly a pleasure to drink.

Bottled 8/2/23; drank 11/24/23 @ the Family Compound.

Mostly see-through orange appearance.

A rough pour yielded a nice off-white head; nice lacing remained.

Corn, caramel & faint orange peel notes in the nose.

Creamy medium mouthfeel.

Sweet corn, mild caramel & faint pine flavors.

Sweet marzen vibes here; above average.

Pours a mostly clear bronze color. Mildly effervescent. Two to three finger white sudsy head forms on the beer. Head recedes leaving just a thin layer of foam on top of the beer.

Aroma has notes of sweet bready malts, with a certain richness, a kiss of honey, and light spicy hop notes. Its really quite nice. Definitely falls in line with the modern festbiers.

Taste follows the nose with notes of bready malts, lightly toasted, moderate sweetness with some honey character. Light DMS notes. The noble hops provide some spiciness on the back end, but the malts are the driving character of this beer.

Feel is moderately bodied, smooth and easy dinking. Mild carbonation.

Overall this is a really nice festbier from New Oberpfalz - I will be on the lookout for more of their lagers based on how nice this one was.

Pours a crystal clear golden color with two fingers of a white head that sticks around for a while. Nice carbonation streaming up the glass.

Aroma is grain, dough, white bread, biscuit, earthiness, floral, herbaciousness, and grass.

Taste is mimicking the aroma well. Grain, white bread, cracker, biscuit, dough, bright floral, earthiness, herbaciousness, grass.

Medium body. Crisp and bright, yet soft and robust. Clean like a pale lager.

I definitely prefer Festbier over Marzen and this supports that. Bright, light, crisp, and refreshing. New Oberpfaltz absolutely kills the lager game and this is no exception.

Bottle courtesy of JohnnyHops.
Clear amber white fluffy head.
Smell of sweet caramel malt, a little piney hop nose.
Taste of Maltiness, caramel. Not overly sweet. More of a bite at the end. Boozy or hoppy crispness.
Dry and crisp. Medium bodied.
Overall very nice.

bottle, 6 weeks after packaging. a perfect festbier in every way. this beer should be sold in gallons. dark straw, not amber and not brown. pours a clean, foaming draw. excellent, even head. aroma is balanced between caramel tones and noble hops. drinks like a 4% adjunct lager. incredibly smooth. hard to believe this is 5.6%. exceptional.

Appearance - The beer was not as dark as I would have suspected. Carbonation was visible.

Smell - The beer has a nice dry lager nose.

Taste - Bold malts come to the front, walking along aside German hops. The hop profile is grassy, and a touch resiny. The beer come to a clean dry finish.

Mouthfeel - The lager yeast adds to the body, with carbonation sweeping the sweeter elements from the tongue.

Overall - This is an excellent interpretation of a style I love.
