Poured from a can into a pint glass
Appearance – The beer pours a slightly hazed orange amber color with a tall head of puffy white foam. The head has a good level of retention, fading slowly over time and leaving a good sum of foamy lace on the glass.
Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a wheat and lemon smell with the lemon being of lemon rind and lemon seeds with just a hint of sweeter lemon flesh. There are some other light smells of herb and spice.
Taste – The taste starts with a slightly bitter lemon and wheat bread flavor mixed with a bit of herbal hop and a touch of sweetness. There is also a light level of pepper and some bitter earth, the former of which fade as the taste advances. The lemon loses it sweetness while the earth gets a bit stronger, leaving one with a somewhat bitter lemon wheat taste to linger on the tongue.
Mouthfeel – The body is medium in thickness with a carbonation level that is moderate.
Overall – Not really a great lemon shandy from the standpoint of refreshment and easy drinking. A bit too bitter.
