We partnered with the brilliant world of Ashanti coffee to brew up a unique coffee/beer hybrid. The addition of lactose gives the beer a smooth creamy mouthfeel and Ashanti's amazing house blend provides notes of caramel and chocolate. Reminiscent of a café latte, who says it needs to be coffee or beer?

Appearance: Slightly cloudy blonde that shows ample carbonation that sadly didn't show up in the single finger of head on the pour. That said, it does stick around for a bit and did offer a little bit of lace.
Smell: Barley malt dominates the nose with sweet corn and the echos of a coffee latte in the creeping in the background. It didn't need substantial warming to achieve it's modest potency.
Taste: There is an echo of coffee that permeates the entire beer, starts with mild biscuit malt with a slight sweet corn note before it leans more into a sweeter milk chocolate before a light dust of floral hops round things out.
Mouthfeel: That echo of coffee gives the beer that just dry enough note, that makes you keep drinking. The transitioning is good but a bit concealed by the coffee. The aftertaste however has a weird swampy note that didn't make itself know while you drank the beer.
Drinkability: Light bodied, and refreshing and settles down incredibly well. I really like how the coffee isn't in your face, but it's very present.
Final Thoughts: So the can is branded like a well known Canadian chocolate bar known as Coffee Crisp. I don't know if I would have gone that route, as this doesn't quite taste like a Coffee Crisp. That said, I guess I get why as the label of said candy bar is yellow which goes with the blonde of the beer. It's good.
