Marionberry is more than just a blackberry, it is the height of blackberry decadence, a showcase of Pacific Northwest terroir and human understanding of fruit breeding & genetics. As brewers we wanted to experience the fullest expression of this fruit flavor by fermenting with two different yeasts, both made with cutting edge gene modifying technology. This yeast version, Sun Dew, was modified by removing the genes that create spicy and phenolic flavors which has allowed the naturally occuring fruit aromas to truly shine! Less is More with Sun Dew!

16 ounce can, canned 02/06/23. Served in an Urban Artifact chalice, the beer pours a dark reddish/purple color with not quite an inch pink head that fizzled away pretty quickly. Not much lacing. Aroma is nice, the brew smells like marionberries, vanilla, and some strawberry. Taste is similar to the aroma, but there's also the addition of some pear, passionfruit and grape skin flavors. Decent amount of tartness with some sweet fruitiness too. Seems to have more tartness compared to the Star Party version. Mouthfeel/body is medium, it's coating with a moderate amount of carbonation. I thought this was a good overall brew, worth a try just so see how the different yeasts work with this brew compared to the Star Party version.
