From the 12 ounce can, it pours a hazy amer color with a very nice white head that slowly reduces and leaves some lacing. The nose gets a sourish fruity scent, probably prickly pear. The mouth gets a sourish prickly peary brew.

Delicate, floral, fruity, the prickly pear rarely sees its way into beer but when it does, its shines. But delicate, this beer is not.

Urban Artifact comes out roaring with prickly pear midwest fruit tart ale, kicking off with a pale blush appearance and floating a part-frothy, part-fizzy cap. With the bubbles popping about the nose, the aromas of orchard fruit, berry, citrus and cider are abundant. Light sweetness seems nectar-like with hints of agave and lychee with a slight sourdough backdrop. The starburst of prickly pear brings a juicy tropical taste with subtle suggestions of strawberry and watermelon in tow. Lime, lemon, gooseberry and white grape from the undercurrent of fermentation helps to round out the fruit cocktail of a sour ale.

Brisk, acidic and off-pucering, the semi-dry ale finishes crisp, clean and dangerously refreshing for its alcohol content as it finishes like rose wine and a hint of dry burlap in a medium length afterglow.
