At my lady Pamela's house; canned and chilled, from their boxset at my favourite LCBO at The Roundhouse Centre in nearby Windsor. My third beer from the Whitby, ON brewery.

473 mL can included in Brock Street's Backyard Party Pack, purchased at the LCBO. Coded 838 4143 and served slightly chilled.

Pours a lightly hazed golden-yellow colour, the surface erupting with several fingers of billowing, soapy white head that requires six or seven minutes to settle off. Gobs of thick, lovely lace are produced in the process, which eventually leaves behind a wide, creamy collar surrounding a patchy cap. Visually impressive, but it looks overcarbonated - a common issue with this brewery, in my experience. Muted aromas of lemon, orchard fruits, pineapple and spicy, herbal hops.

It tastes fine, but I'm struggling to determine what, if anything, is juicy about this IPA. Grainy at the forefront, with understated hints of lemon, pear and grapefruit alongside a grassy, herbal, spicy hop profile. Maybe a hint of mango and banana, with a spicy, peppery, rather bitter finish that seems jarringly off-brand for a hazy IPA. Medium in body, with aggressive carbonation that prickles the palate and froths up in the mouth; it's annoying at first, but exhausts itself over the course of the session, making for an increasingly enjoyable quaff.

Final Grade: 3.57, a serviceable B grade. While attempting to come up with descriptive terms for Brock Street's Juicy Fruit Hazy IPA , "juicy" was not the first adjective that came to mind - or the second, or the third for that matter. Indeed, this reminded me more of a Belgian IPA than a hazy American or New England IPA. While its failure to conform doesn't necessarily make this a bad pale ale, I feel that if you're going to straight up call your beer Juicy Fruit, you gotta back that name up somehow. Sadly, this one does not. I wouldn't turn this beer down, but I don't plan to seek it out again, either.
