This brewery features a small but funky tasting room It's dominated by a really cool mural. The crowd is lively and the staff friendly and attentive. They serve special versions of the flagship beers, including Barrel-Aged versions. I think the beer is better on draught than from hte can. Overall, it's a fun experience.

Small brewery in a warehouse, but also has a cool bar area and plenty of seating and tables so you can bring food in to enjoy with your brews. Nice variety of beer choices. Several choices are available to take home in tall cans.

Awarded the NJ.com Craft Brewery award for 2017. Picture on this site doesn't really do it justice. Visited on a Saturday afternoon near 15:00 and the place was packed. Entering to the left of the building, serving area is small (no more than 800 sq ft.) but has a fun, quirky vibe. Demon theme, with a stylized devil portrait on the front door and large mural with a purgatory/rings of hell.
Small bar with seating/space for 8 to 12 with supplemental seating and standing room to about 10 - 12 more along the back wall and 6 or so picnic style seating locations in the brewery proper. There are 16 taps (fifteen in use when I visited) and colorful names for the brews, e.g Double Dementia, Orcus, and Lust. At the bar, tasters ($2 to $3.50 -- individually or in flights of 4), $6 pours (size depends on variety), grunts ($8 - $12), crowlers ($10 - $14 -- limited to certain brews) and growlers ($15 - $20) are available. Up to four canned offerings (two the day I visited).
Two personnel behind the bar. Knowledgeable about the brews and facility. In the New Jersey, service in a brewery requires an obligatory short tour of the facility, which is as interesting as one makes it. I was shown some state of the art, stainless steel equipment, as well as a variety of barrels (chardonnay, brandy, whiskey, etc.) used for aging purposes. Service was a little slow, but it was packed the afternoon I visited -- at least 12 to 15 patrons.
Business overall is evidently brisk, so another production facility close by is being or has been developed. "Scarlet Night" in 12 oz cans is available in retailers locally -- evidently it has not penetrated the New York State market. A membership with Demented ($100) is available and has its privileges: 6 - 20 oz new proprietary offerings, sealed with wax, are available to members annually before the rush. Alternatively, these can be purchased for $18 each on a first come, first served basis.
The selection is reasonably broad with cream, wheat, and red ales, several IPAs, some of these with added flavors, a chocolate stout, and even a wee heavy available the day of the visit. Varieties that fly though to brewery are identified as worthy of canning and broader distribution. Two such were available already canned -- tasted one (Astarte) and am reserving judgment for now.

Service was good. What is it with NJ's idiotic law you have to take a brewery tour (and this one was two minutes) before you can drink in the brewery? Cozy spot, nicely decorated. Beers were...meh. Had eight in two flights and nothing I thought was outstanding. How they best out Kane for best in NJ I have no clue.

Demented just won the first NJ.com best NJ craft brewery award in 2017. They beat some top notch competition so I went to try them out. Smaller tasting room with a mural on the wall that had some really gothic type images. Very comfortable space though. Brewery tour was about 10 minutes. Lots of barrels (whiskey, brandy, etc.). Construction going on as they are ever expanding based on their growing following. Flights we got were all excellent and they had like 20 beers available for pours, some bombers ($18), growlers only for select ($15-20), 4 packs of cans, and crowlers. Scarlet Night in cans can be found in some of my local beer stores. I left with a bunch of bombers. I have been long time fan of several of the breweries they beat in the NJ.com contest and still have my personal favorites, but I can understand why Pete Genovese picked Demented. Will be back,

The tasting room is adjacent to the brewing operations. Nice interior feel with the brick walls, TV over the bar, a refrigerator with bombers to go, and a comfortable drinking space at a smallish bar. There are a few stools along a wall rail too. There were 15 beers available on this visit, clearly labelled behind the bar on a large chalkboard with ABV, IBUs, and SRM listed. There are the usual full pours, along with $2 tasters - or grab a flight for $8. Growlers to go here too. I noticed a food truck parked outside which is a nice addition since there is no food here.
