16oz can, unreadable can date but known to be fresh, poured into a 16oz tumbler glass. Enjoyed on 01.02.2025, reviewed from Tasting Journal.

The beer pours a very hazy and turbid golden straw color, amber and orange hues, with a fluffy white head, great retention and lacing. The aroma is pleasant, lots of citrus, grapefruit and lime, pineapple tanginess, herbal tea, wildflower, berry fruits, sweet yeast and heavy dough. The flavors are good, juicy and tangy, lime forward citrus, bitter pine and grapefruit peel, dank weediness, grass clippings, berry fruits, wildflower, heavy dough, and mineral water. The mouthfeel is a bit taxing, coating, very thick and chewy, heavy body with a dry bite at the finish.

Verdict: A nice IPA from Hop Butcher. Bright and tangy hop profile that is expressive and complex, but a very heavy and taxing body.

Appearance: Cloudy orange, big head.

Smell: Sweet melon, citrus, low strength.

Taste: Moderately sweet, then melons and citrus. Low bitterness, Soft feel.

Overall: My first Hop Butcher beer, had it along with some Barrel Theory. The Mellotron is sweeter and less bitter than the BT beer, of course they have different hops and are different breweries. Interesting to try a couple NEIPA's and see the similarities and differences!

Canned 1/29/25 (2 weeks ago)

Appearance: Pours a completely hazy (5% clarity) medium to dusky orange color with a strong white head. SRM of 8. (4.00)

Aroma: Strong aromas of orange, raspberries, some bright peach, melon, and berries. (4.00)

Flavor: Strong flavors of orange, raspberries, bright peach, stone, fruit, with tropical berries and melon underneath. Leans sweet. (4.00)

Feel: Medium-body, medium carbonation. Finish is smooth, thick, slightly sweet. (4.00)

Compared to Hop Butcher Cosmic Glow 2/25: Pours darker, milder aromas. More bright peach, raspberries, stonefruit. Less berry flower, papaya, blueberry.
2/25: More citrus, pine. Less berry and floral notes.. Winner: Cosmic Glow

to Hop Butcher Orange Moss 3/25: Pours lighter, stronger aromas. more green melon, papaya, berries. Less tangerine and ripe orange.

to Toppling Goliath Sosus 3/25: Pours clearer, stronger aromas. Less orange, berries, dank pine. More smooth melon and lime. More smooth.

to Drekker Buttons Aren't Toys 4/25: Pours darker, milder head. Milder aromas. Less pineapple, passionfruit, strawberry. More tropical melon, berries, lime. More tropical.

Overall: First try at this one. First brewed with Azacca back in 2018. Now has the addition of Moteuka and Citra. The flavors change here. Upfront I got a lot of bright peach and sweet raspberry Now as it settles I'm getting more citrus and pine. It carries a bite. A bit perplexing, but can't quite figure this one out yet. Not super impressed so far, but sometimes it takes a little settling in. I stocked twelve of these so don't worry, I'll know my thoughts on this one before long... (current rating: 4.00, but TBD...)

Canned 12/7/16; drank 12/12/16 @ the Yarchives.

Opaque dull orange/yellow appearance.

A rough pour yielded a HUGE, noisy eggnog head; strong, frothy lace.

Melon, banana & mango notes in the nose.

Soft medium mouthfeel.

Melon, banana & mango flavors up front; mild dry grass notes on the finish.

NE IPA excellence; fruity, soft & just a touch dry. Another gem...

Fascinating hop trio with the always bold azacca and simcoe bringing a rye and grain spice that melds well with the hazy moteuka hop. Finding myself becoming a big fan of moteuka in these hazy beers. The dry hopping leaves a fruit rind-like dryness on the finish. Now all that being said it isn't overly fruit or flavorful beyond the hops, but the hops are enough to keep my attention for a glass.
