10/13/24 - (Can - Home) (Chicago, IL) Can Notes: Purchased refrigerated July 17, 2024 at The Beer Temple (four pack $16.53 with tax). 16 oz packaged July 9, 2024 @ 12:53:04 PM, Can Stamp: Double The Fun!. Refrigerated until pulling this afternoon. 7.5% ABV. Citra & Mosaic Hopped Double India Pale Ale. Tasting Notes: Fresh Citrus, Light Resin, Exotic Tropical. Artwork by Dan Garza. Brewed and canned by Hop Butcher For The World in Chicago and Bedford Park, Illinois.
Appearance: Poured about 80% of the can slowly into a pint teku glass. Orange juice impenetrable base, creamy generous head leaves soapy lacing and a creamy cover over the base. Looks great. 4.5
Aroma: Bursting tropical sweetness, orange and pineapple primary, peaches and grapefruit back. Above medium strength, even higher in terms of enjoyment. 4.25
Taste: Consistent with aroma orange and pineapple front and center. Initial SweeTart burst of sweetness chills shortly thereafter, with a more balanced take of some balancing bitterness with no impediment to the bursting flavors. Not getting a lot of complexity, but loving the mix I am getting, which is typical with this hop combination. More tropical than many others with the same hop profile. Not sure if lactose is used here. 4.5
Mouthfeel: Very gentle pillowy feel, carbonation faint and adds slightly to the full creamy body. Drinks at the ABV, sweet overall, but nice balance after the initial sips. Pineapple citrus finish. 4.75
Overall: This is an outstanding DIPA NE style offering. Among my remembered favorites for this Citra Mosaic blend. This held up really well. Another outstanding effort by Hop Butcher For The World, my local fix for NEIPA and other styles. 4.75

Can into IPA Glass (Canned 12/15/2025)
Look: Super hazy, burnt orange body, pouring a yellowish, frothy, one finger head.
Smell: mango, sweet orange, bright lemon, piney and dank hops. Weak-med strength nose
Taste: Sweet mango and papaya with a tart pineapple. Orange zest and grapefruit pith. Medium bitterness. Danky hops with a light pine. Finish mellow out the dank quick, before a quick hit of sweet orange marmalade and a touch of mellow malt.
Feel: Medium bodied, gentle carbonation, silky texture.
Overall: Just a good brew. For a double, I find it easier to drink than few other doubles I've had in the past

16 oz can
Pours an opaque burnt orange with a creamy off-white head. Good retention. Leaves some cobweb lacing.
Aroma brings notes of mango, papaya and melon. Some lighter notes of orange marmalade and dank, piney hops.
Taste follows the nose. Lots of mango and stone fruit as well as grapefruit and orange. Dank and herbal hop finish.
Medium-full bodied with lower carbonation. Soft and creamy and smooth.
This is a great hazy IPA that tastes like a fruit cocktail. Not as balanced as I'd like but the fruity flavors are undeniable.

Picked up from the local beer shop on a Friday afternoon. From a tall aluminum can, this one pours an opaque hazy dark orange color...murky. The head is fizzy, with fish eye bubbles that quickly falls to nothing. It looks something like dirty fresh-squeezed orange juice. The aroma is intensely fruity....tropical fruits like orange, lemon, grapefruit, mango, and more. The taste continues the fruitiness, backed with a sweet underpinning and a little dank earthiness. Fairly full in body, and I could note the ABV immediately. This one is okay...nice flavor.

An excellent DIPA! Hop Butcher usually nails it, and Double Grid is no exception.

Just a spectacular, well rounded beverage. Perfect for conversation with loved ones. Drink slowly, but not too slow. Enjoy each refreshing sip.

Can: Poured a hazy/cloudy yellow color ale with a large white foamy head with good retention and some lacing. Aroma of citrusy hoppy notes with some juicy floral hops undertones with a semi-sweet finale. Taste is also a good mix of citrusy hoppy notes with some juicy floral hops undertones notes with some badly attenuated residual sugar notes. Body is about full for style with good carbonation. Enjoyable double NEIPA but lacking some attenuation.
