Indeed dark black with a brown cap and lazy lacing. Smell and taste are the same: huge maple with caramel and vanilla tints before the finish brings it all to a cutting finale with sea salt and dark chocolate. A wonderful dessert beer that doesn't have to be boozy, but make no mistake it is sweet! Feel reflects this, short of cloying by the usage of the salt, not a lot of nuance but intense. Would be curious how this would go in a bourbon or whiskey barrel.

16 ounce can into a snifter. Canned 7/28/20, had 8/20/20.

Pours near black and opaque, with a quarter inch foamy head and some spotty cling. Aromas of maple (lots), vanilla, malt, chocolate, some toffee. The flavor also begins with a generous amount of maple, then sea salt, toffee, vanilla, malt, some chocolate. Smooth, a solid full body, appropriately carbonated.

As is typical with HB, aromas and flavors are luxurious and all the add- ins show up and show well. The maple is certainly strong, but this is not overly sweet. Just sweet. The sea salt adds a nice touch in the flavor and more vanilla comes through than expected, since is wasn’t apparently added. Very enjoyable.

Canned 7/28/20; drank 7/31/20 @ the Yarchives.

Black appearance.

A violent pour yielded a nice dark tan head; nice lace.

STRONG maple syrup, milk chocolate & faint vanilla notes in the nose.

Thick, sticky mouthfeel.

STRONG maple syrup & mild milk chocolate flavors up front; sea salt dryness on the finish.

This is too much maple; people who can't get enough of that profile will love it, but more moderate maple fans such as myself will quickly overdose. Not one I'll return to.
