Aroma is very spicy/piney/slightly dank hops and a hint of lager yeast. The flavor is fruit/mild citrus, a hint of vegetal, malts and a piney/spicy/dry hop finish.

Pours a slightly hazy pale yellow. Hardly any head to speak of. Pleasant aroma. Taste has very interesting Saaz character with a slightly mineral lingering aftertaste. Decent enough take on a relatively new style.

Served in a Mickey Finn's shaker pint glass from an aluminum growler filled at Beer on the Wall - Arlington Heights.

Only 1 Saaz ain't enough, baby. Anyway, this stuff pours a clear brass topped by a half-finger of bright, lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises sweetgrass, flowers, and a touch of very mild biscuit. The taste leans into the grassy aspect and adds some mild orange peel and mineral water for good measure. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a drying finish. Overall, a tasty and refreshing pils.

Poured from a crowler. Clear gold with two fingers of pearl white foam. Grassy and herbal hops lead the nose, hello saaz! Accents of citrus zest and grains behind the starring hops. Taste continues the hop forward theme, the italian pils cracker malt and floral yeast about two thirds of the way through the sip is the only thing stopping this one from becoming an IPL, so hoppy but not pale. Hops elevate and cut in the feel, driving the palate through hop textures the whole sip. Light, crisp and bright. Personally I want a little more pilsner definition instead of mostly hop driven character, but a good pils nonetheless

HB is my favorite IPA producer and the few lager/pilsners they’ve done have been top notch in my book as well. Double Saaz hits the high mark again. It’s full bodied for a pilsner I’d say. The carbonation and mouth feel are superb. I love the color and there’s just a bit of lacing as the beer continues to bubble after the pour. It’s not as hoppy as an IPL but more than other pilsners I’d say. I do find that I’m drawn to the hoppy ones the most. I’ll definitely pick this up again if they put it out.

Pours a crystal clear straw-golden color. Not really effervescent at all, but a nice three to four finger head forms on top of the beer before steadily dissolving. Thin layer of sudsy foam remains on top of the beer.

The aroma is dominated by spicy herbal saaz hops and a slight citric, floral note coming from the zuper saaz. The malts are really light on the nose - there is a touch of straw, but not much else and again, its dominated by the hops.

Taste follows the nose - there are light straw and malt notes that play second fiddle to the dominant hops. The hops bring notes of spicy herbs, light citric lemony notes, lemon grass and dried alfalfa. Its super simplistic - light, subdued malt backbone with dominant saaz hops. But, its an enjoyable beer to drink, especially if you enjoy saaz hops. It does veer towards IPL territory for me given the dominance of the hops in this and the weak/lacking malt backbone.

Feel is very light, crisp, and bright. Semi-dry finish.

Overall its a non-traditional pilsner, one that veers in IPL territory for me. However, on its own merits, its a really enjoyable beer to drink.

Just a great beer. I wish it was available all the time. Crisp and flavorful, what a good pilsner can and should be. I would definitely keep it in the fridge if I could.
