Not a great Hop Butcher or Toppling Goliath offering. Thought those two doing a collab would be much better. Cloudy pale gold with a bit of sediment. Smell and taste are slightly lemony, a little tangy, slightly dank. Light body, mild carbonation, minimal alcohol.

Served in a Lagunitas mason jar from an aluminum growler filled at Beer on the Wall - Arlington Heights.
Call me crazy, but I was expecting a bock of some sort. Regardless, this stuff pours a foggy sunrise amber-brass topped by a finger of lightly off-white foam. The nose comprises orange zest, light lemon zest, grapefruit rind, light flowers, and a touch of mild bread in the back row. The taste brings in more of the same, along with a hefty dose of melon flesh. The body is a rather light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a fluid feel. Overall, a nice, tasty hazy. 'Nuff said.

This was really good. It managed to walk the line of being a NE IPA and keeping the ABV at 5.5%. It was hazy with a nice tropical feel and some dankness. It even had a touch of pine at the end. All without being super creamy and heavy. It was a nice beer to have and sit out on the deck with.

Pours hazy gold. Smells of tropical fruit and bitter dank hops. Taste follows suit but a lot more mild and controlled than you would expect. Taste matches ABV. I liked it for as mild as it was for the style. Would drink 10 more.

16oz can, dated 05.11.2021, poured into a stemless wine glass.
The beer pours a very hazy and turbid orange color, golden hues with a foamy white head, good height, moderate retention and ample lacing. The aroma is nice, earthy, green, grassy with mild citrus, mango, sweet yeast and pale dough. The flavors are good, citrus peel, mango, wildflower, valencia orange, pale dough, mineral water, with a nice grassy and dank hop, green, bitter, piney. The mouthfeel is good, coating, lively medium body, lighter and more delicate with a dry but easy finish.
Verdict: A nice IPA from Hop Butcher and Toppling Goliath. A nice balance of juicy and tropical citrus and fruit flavors with more dank, grassy, and earthy hop qualities.

Opaque orange tone, creamy foam a fingers width, and a collar of lacing perpetually down the glass. Aroma is pungent and tropical, sweet ripe papaya and mango, supplanted with fistfuls of resiny green botanicals. Creamy texure, mango and citrus peel, lightly resiny finish with earthy greens in the aftertaste. Thankfully not overly sweet, and easily drinkable as a result. It has an agile, light and lean body and still bursting with hop aroma and flavor. Signature TG elements, in my humble opinion. Thanks to Bill for this one!

Canned 5/11/21; drank 5/14/21 @ the Yarchives.
Opaque orange/yellow appearance.
A rough pour yielded a nice white head; frothy tree-rung lace.
Orange peel, dank ganja, mild cream & faint pineapple notes in the nose.
Soft, medium mouthfeel.
Spring water, dank ganja & orange peel flavors.
This had a great nose and mouthfeel; the taste lagged a bit behind. A good beer.

I love my super fresh Hop Butcher. I’m so spoiled living in Chicago. Vermont and Boston has got nothing over us for hazy IPAs!
So HB hazies do usually need a couple more days to settle down and lose some hop burn in my opinion. Being a lower abv, I am getting a tiny bit here, but it’s not distracting really. It’s a beautiful orange juice looking beer with lacing that stays. There’s a wonderful bitter juicy citrus note to the smell that follows on the tongue. I find that their doubles really hit the sweet spot of booziness that I love. This is way up there though for flavor that rivals the doubles. I couldn’t guess that this is a Toppling colab but whatever they did to help, I appreciate it. Don’t miss this one.
