I got a tall boy can of this beer from my good friend and old neighbor from the 'Wego. It poured and smelled like most typical IPAs that are hopped with nelson and So Cross hops. The taste was crisp and clean with great juicy citrus fruit flava. Overall it is a solid beer.

On tap at Donnelly’s Public House in Fairport, NY.

This one pours a very hazy golden yellow color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells like mango, white wine, pineapple, honey, and grapefruit.

I haven’t had a lot of Hop Butcher for the world, but the little bit that I’ve had has been enjoyable for sure. The Nelson provides a ton of exotic juiciness, as it does, with grape, pineapple, mango, all that, and maybe the Southern Cross is providing the grapefruit and slightly piney bitterness here? There’s not a lot of bitterness, but it’s there.

This is lighter bodied, but creamy, and really drinkable.

If you’re in the mood for this style, this will scratch the itch for sure.

Pours a cloudy straw yellow with a finger of foamy head that slowly dissipates to a thin ring with little to no lacing. Aroma of grapefruit and citrus. Taste follows nose.

Robust NEIPA. Poured from a16 oz. can into a pint glass, this beer features the standard NEIPA hazy straw yellow color with a big foamy white head and lots of lacing. Head retetention is very good. Strong citrus hops (grapefruit) aroma and taste. This beer is very flavorful and has a good amount of bitterness. Mouthfeel is rich, crisp and moderately bitter. The citrus hops shine through throughout. I had it with tortilla chips, salsa and dip while watching "March Madness". A good choice.

Pours a completely opaque almost milky orange color. Thick frothy white head forms on the beer, lingers for a bit, then dissipates. Aroma has notes of white grape, apple, berries, and some light notes of pine, resin and grass with a woody character.

Taste follows the nose with notes of white grape, chardonnay, apple and berries, with some hoppy notes that have a grassy, woody character. Biscuit malt backbone is clearly apparent. Moderate woody bitterness on the finish. Feel is heavy ... there is a creaminess to the beer along with the full body - so it ends up a bit heavy for an IPA, but not out of line for the NE-style. mild bitterness on the finish. Moderate carbonation.

Overall its a standard Hop Butcher NE-IPA. With these beers I feel like the differentiation just comes down your preference for one or another hop bill. I like the NZ hops - especially nelson, so I enjoyed this one, but your mileage may vary.

16oz can, dated 08.01.2022, poured into a 16oz tumbler glass.

The beer pours an ultra hazy and thick orange color, golden and straw hues, thin finger of taut white head, good retention and excellent lacing. The aroma is pleasant, bursting with Nelson hops, tropical punch, berry fruit, stone fruits, mild citrus, very earthy citrus peel, grass, pine resin, and rye spice with a fluffy and pillowy pale dough base. The flavors are very good, strawberry leaps out with white grape, orange citrus, wildflower, dank weed, pine resin, grapefruit peel, rye, pale dough lingers. The mouthfeel is good, coating, very heavy medium body, super smooth with a dry bite at the finish.

Verdict: A nice NEIPA from Hop Butcher. The Nelson comes to the forefront and is well supported by the mix of other hops, strong dank and grassy character that amplifies the bright tropical elements. Well balanced, super sessionable despite the hefty body.
