Roll Your Own Way is, first and foremost, a big ole stout. So for those of you anxiously tuning in since Coffee Bear week, this one's for you. The interesting and fun backstory here, though, is that we didn't set out with a cinnamon roll stout in mind. We had a collection of ideas for the next stout and during a fit of playful beer alchemy aimed at dialing it in, the brew crew tried something random and struck cinnamon roll-y gold. Cinnaman roll lovers, rejoice!

Pours beautifully black with a head of foam that others dream of -- a three finger froth that develops into a creamy, sculpted masterpiece. Aroma is a bit of a mess -- cinnamon and vanilla are present. I think vanilla edges out in the sniff department. Taste is very cinnamon, ending in chocolate and vanilla overtones. The sip warms the throat and fills the body with a nice feeling of wanting more. The taste though changes a bit after the first; becoming more spicy cinnamon, less smooth bodied and more sweet. A solid beer.

Pours a creamy foamy 1 finger brown head with great retention, good lacing, decent legs, jet black color

Nose starts like French Vanilla yogurt, like super French Vanilla, a bit of cinnamon behind that, with sweet chocolate ganache, milk chocolate, a little dark malt roast but not much, cookie dough and caramel also kinda there

Taste brings a lot more of the French Vanilla, like coffee additive or yogurt flavoring, quite sweet, cinnamon kicks in but not a lot, and again a bit artificial like the vanilla, sweet cream frosting, creamy milk chocolate notes into a mild caramel fudge, light baking spices with the cinnamon, light alcohol flavor, with some bitterness and lots more bitter spices late

Mouth is fuller bod, creamy rich, med lighter carb, light warming alcohol

Overall typical pastry stout which I guess I should have expected, sweet, artificial, very little actual beer, not very good at all

Nope. Way too much cinnamon and vanilla. It really doesn't even taste like a beer. I get why people like adjunct flavors in their beers. It can be fun and interesting to try. And some of them actually work really well. But this is one of many beers that took it way too far. Now get off my lawn you damn kids! :-)

At home in a can.

This is just not very good. The vanilla is somehow very cloying. There is a sour note that dominates at first and then the finish gets too sweet.
