Got IP trade with GreenBayBA in 2023 metalfest weekend. 16 ounce can into tulip glass, canned on 4/25/2023. Pours very turbid hazy golden yellow/green color with a 2 finger dense and rocky off white head with fantastic retention and dense soapy lacing on the glass. Aromas of big red grapefruit, mandarin orange juice, lemon, lime, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, pear, cedar, peppercorn, cannabis, pine, wheat, white bread dough, and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Taste follows through with red grapefruit, mandarin orange juice, lemon, lime, peach, pineapple, passion fruit, papaya, mango, honeydew melon, plum, pear, blueberry, white grape/wine, cedar, mint, cannabis, peppercorn, pine, wheat, white bread dough, and herbal/floral/grassy hop earthiness. Light-medium pine, citrus rind, woody, minty bitterness on the finish. Medium carbonation and medium-plus body. Balanced creamy/bready malt and sticky hop mouthfeel. Lingering resin dryness, with minimal lingering hop astringency. Amazing showcase of Citra, Rakau, Waimea, and Mosaic hops; this held up insanely well. Balanced super juicy and dank/earthy hops; with a great soft hazy mouthfeel. Top tier NEDIPA. Light increasing warmth of 8% after the finish through the glass.

Pours a dense yellow, generous head.

Smell is light southern hop. Tropical, citrus.

Taste is the same.

It has that lovely sweet, light and creamy hop butcher feel, excellent.

Appearance: Pours a completely hazy (10% clarity), medium to pale golden-orange color with a strong white head. SRM of 7. (4.00)

Aroma: Strong aromas of orange, tropical honeydew melon, blueberries, papaya, and stonefruit. Some grape underneath. (4.00)

Flavor: Strong flavors of orange, smooth grape, papaya, melon, and blueberries. Tropical berries linger. Mildly sweet, but clean. (4.00)

Feel: Medium-body, strong carbonation. Finishes tropical, mildly sweet, but clean. (4.00)

Compared to Hop Butcher Through The Uprights 12/24: Pours slightly lighter, stronger aromas. More tropical blueberries, papaya, grape. Less tangerine and stonefruit. Winner: Cosmic Glow

to Hop Butcher Your Wish Is Hazy 12/24: Pours identical, milder aromas. Less strawberries, cream, peach, mango. More dank citrus, pine, tropical melon, berries. Drier.

to Toppling Goliath Fire, Skulls, & Money 1/25: Pours lighter. Stronger aromas. Less citrus, grapefruit flower, dank. More sweet apricot, melon, mango. Sweeter.

to Hop Butcher Galaxy Bowl 1/25: Pours lighter, milder aromas. Less grapefruit citrus and tangerine. More tropical berries, melon, grape. Similar tropical notes, but slightly more tropical melon and berries.

to Hop Butcher Best Buds 1/25: Pours identical. Stronger aromas. Less orange, tangerine, lime. More apricot, stonefruit, and pine.

to Hop Butcher DUN DUN DUN 1/25: Pours lighter, similar aromas. Less tropical orange, melon, stonefruit. More green pine. Drier. Winner: Cosmic Glow

to Hop Butcher Mellotron 2/25: Pours lighter, stronger aromas. Less bright peach, raspberries, stonefruit. More berry flower, papaya, blueberry. Winner: Cosmic Glow
2/25: Less citrus, pine. More berry and floral notes. Winner: Cosmic Glow

to Hop Butcher Orange Moss 2/25: Pours lighter, stronger aromas. More tropical berries, melon, orange. Less orange, orange flower, pineapple, pine. Winner: Cosmic Glow

to Toppling Goliath Sosus 3/25: Less dank grapefruit, berries and pine. More smooth tropical notes. Less of a bite.

Overall: Another fantastic hop combo with the Rakau and Waimea. The Rakau hops give a nice smooth grape/plum flavor here. Hop Butcher does a lot with the Waimea hop. Brings out some amazing floral flavors with the Mosaic. This Cosmic Glow is excellent! (Rating: 4.02

 

A - Pours a hazy golden orange with a one finger creamy white head. Heavy amount of soapy lacing.

S - Aroma is peach, pineapple, candied orange and resinous hops.

T - The taste is juicy papaya, mango peach, candied lime, ripe strawberries and light dank hop bite.

M - Medium body with medium carbonation. Creamy mouthfeel with a pillowy soft finish.

O - Really dig this. Sweet and juicy with just enough hop bite to keep it balanced.

 

16oz can, dated 04.25.23, poured into 16oz tumbler glass. Enjoyed on 05.01.2023, reviewed from Tasting Journal.

The beer pours a super hazy golden straw color, very turbid and cloudy, honey hues with a foamy white head, great height and retention with nice webs of lacing. The aroma is great, super dank, herbal, white tea, peach and bright stone fruits, with more earthy pine, wildflower, and raw dough. The flavors are good, juicy tropical fruits, herbal, floral, white tea, berry fruits, pine, dank grassiness, weedy with sweet yeast, dough, and mineral water. The mouthfeel is good, coating, thick, medium body with a smooth but dry finish.

Verdict: A very nice hazy IPA from Hop Butcher. Bright, dank, juicy, bitter, well balanced, a great display of southern hemisphere hops.

16 ounce can into a tulip snifter. Canned 4/25/23, had 5/14/23.

Pours a hazy yellow orange, with a two inch creamy foam head and a decent amount of foamy lacing. Aromas of papaya, some pineapple, light peach, a floral aroma. Flavors of papaya, malt, some peach, light pineapple, light pine, a little hop bitterness on the finish. Has a floral taste. Smooth, a good lighter body, well carbonated.

A good and solid effort that’s definitely worth a try. But nothing really grabs your attention.

 

 

 

Aroma is complex citrus hops and bread/yeast. The flavor is citrus/fruit, a hint of dark fruit, biscuit malts and a tropical/spicy hop/mildly sweet finish.

Milky gold haze; 3 fingers of fluffy white foam; long cap retention; medium heavy lace. Pineapple and berries nose; overripe fruit. Taste follows with guava; sweet base. Medium body, moderate minus carbonation; some astringency; dusty tongue coating. Overall there is something (mouthfeel primarily) about this kid’s juice-box IPA that I don’t like. One and done.
