Hop Butcher For The World

The first thing I noticed was the delightful citrusy/orange aroma, and the taste is a true reflection, to be quite honest. As I am learning more about hazy NE IPAs (I’m still a neophyte), I appreciate how they’re layered. In this one, the hoppiness is almost immediately noticeable but the taste (possibly because I’m still inhaling the fragrance) is orangey. I don’t feel any punch-in-the-face bitterness, and I don’t feel like my tongue has been coated with goo. It’s a lovely color, but certainly cloudy/opaque, and not much of a head. Hop Butcher is so good at these kinds of beers!

This one pours a fairly hazy golden orange color, with a small head, and lots of lacing.

This smells characteristically pretty orange forward, grapefruit, pineapple, and melon.

Hop Butcher is a really competent IPA producer. This has a really pleasant citrusy and sticky hop feel to it. There’s some slight bitterness but it’s mostly saturated fruity hop goodness – orange, pineapple, grapefruit, melon, etc.

This is creamy and full bodied, but not heavy, with a great drinkability.

This is just super solid – it’s not often I get super impressed by a NE-style IPA anymore, but this definitely impressed me.

 

 

16oz can. Poured out a cloudy, golden orange color with a small, off-white head of foam. It left sudsy trails of lace. Sweet orange aroma with pineapple, caramel and toffee notes. Great citrus taste with toasted caramel and a piney bitterness.

Wow this is so nice. I think the creamy mouthfeel is perfect. Tasty too lol not sure if i ever had Tangier hops before but i really like this beer.

Appearance: Pours a completely hazy (5% clarity) medium, deep, yet bright orange color with a strong white head. SRM of 8. (4.25)

Aroma: Stronger aromas of bright oranges, bright peach, strawberry, bright, tangerine, and some hints of lemon. (4.25)

Flavor: Strong flavors of orange, orange flower, tangerine flower, some light peach and strawberry notes. Bright berries linger underneath. Slightly sweet. (4.00)

Feel: Medium bodied, strong, carbonation, finishes, sweet, but bright. (4.00)

to Toppling Goliath Fire, Skulls, & Money 2/25: Pours darker, larger head. More orange, tangerine flower, peach, strawberry. Less grapefruit, white grape, pine. More smooth and sweet.

to Hop Butcher Best Buds 2/25: Pours darker. Similar aromas. More orange, tangerine, tropical stonefruit. Less citrus, pineapple, flower. Similar. Winner: Best Buds

to Hop Butcher Cosmic Glow 2/25: Pours darker, milder aromas. Less tropical berries, melon, orange. More orange, orange flower, pineapple, pine. Winner: Cosmic Glow

to Hop Butcher DUN DUN DUN 3/25: Pours identical, stronger aromas. More orange and orange blossom. Less tangerine and peach. Similar

to Phase Three Be Cappy 3/25: Pours darker. Stronger aromas. More tangerine, peach, strawberry. Less orange citrus, flower, and yuzu. Sweeter.

to Hop Butcher Mellotron 3/25: Pours darker, milder aromas. less green melon, papaya, berries. More tangerine and ripe orange.

to Toppling Goliath Sosus 3/25: Pours hazier, milder aromas. More smooth orange and apricot, less dank pine and citrus. Less bitter.

Overall: Hop Butcher Orange Moss, a fresh release from Hop Butcher with some standard Citra and Simcoe, but the addition of Tangier which I haven't had before. Amazing orange flower and tangerine blossom flavors. Makes a lot of flavors out of nothing. Plus this thing is so fresh and fresh Hop Butcher is almost magical. (Rating: 4.13)
