Collaboration with Oliver's Cider & Perry, After The Harvest
Brewed with our friends from After The Harvest and Oliver's, this beer-perry hybrid is crisp, vibrant and thirst-quenching, finding harmony between classic perry flavours, yeast aromatics and hop notes. It was created by blending beer wort with pear juice and fermenting with a Saison yeast, before ageing in foudre for 10 months. A light Simcoe dry hop was then added prior to bottling.
Aroma & Flavour: Sweet pineapple and fresh green pear, accompanied by light lemony sourness and underpinned by light cereal malt character
Body: Light-bodied, crisp and dry with prickly carbonation
Aftertaste: Spice and doughy white bread mingle with pine and herbal hop notes

Pours a clear, pale yellow, straw coloration with no head to speak of, just some minimal wispy foam that disappears immediately. Not really a lot going on in the nose, some light ripe pear and just a hint of fruity/spicy yeast esters.Taste is a good balance of quite light doughy malt, tart and juicy pears and some yeast esters of green apple, apricot, gooseberry and black pepper, as well as the merest hint of tropical hops. Finishes rather dry with a light tartness and some juicy pears and black pepper lingering in the aftertaste. Effervescent mouthfeel with a light body and medium/strong carbonation.
This is an interesting and well-executed "beer" that seems a lot closer to Perry territory though. Still the light doughy malt and yeast esters do integrate themselves very nicely here, adding a certain layer of depth that is enhanced by the merest hint of tropical hops. While the rather ripe and juicy pears bring a certain, rather light sweetness to this, it finishes quite dry, making for a very refreshing drinking experience in combination with the effervescent mouthfeel and light tartness and body. Probably closer to a Perry than a Saison, but a very interesting hybrid beer that is rather enjoyable in its own way, especially on a hot and humid summer evening.

Pours a pale yellow with a little bit of wispy head.
Smell is yeasty and a bit peppery with notes of pears, lime and white wine.
Taste is crisp and cidery with notes of pears, apples, yeast and a hint of bitterness. Dry and vinous.
Mouthfeel is thin to medium, very sparkly.
Overall, a very interesting hybrid, crisp and thirst quenching.
