I like ESBs from time to time and seeing as this one was brewed in Alberta..why not.
Unfiltered so quite cloudy, dull copper color.
Nice balanced ESB with flavorful malts working nicely with the bitterness. Finishes quite dry.
Smooth and quite creamy feel. However I found it tended to go flat rather quickly.
Would have been awesome as a nitro tap offering

Decided to drink something somewhat special for my 100th review. A policeman was killed in Edmonton last summer, and this beer was brewed to raise money for his family. 650ml bottle poured into Sam Adams pint glass.
Pours hazy copper-orange with half a finger of pale beige head that leaves eroding Irish cliffside lace as it recedes.
Smells of light toffee, baking bread, muddled orchard fruit, mild citrus and mild forest floor hops.
Tastes of more toffee-like caramel malt, biscuity sweetness, faint browning apple slices and more earthy grassy hops.
Feels smooth and creamy. Medium bodied with gentle carbonation. Finishes dry.
Verdict: Recommended. Well-balanced tasty, and brewed for a good cause.

As the son of a former EPS member, this one hits home and is worth buying on principle alone. That said, it is a very tasty ESB. Nice copper color, quickly fading head, with plenty of grainy malt flavor. Overall, this is a nicely balanced, easy drinking bitter.

This is a nicely balanced ESB that has a nice dry finish. Some ESB have little to no flavour or the malt comes through too much. This ten ended to the lighter and sweeter side. Very enjoyable and I will buy again.

500ml glass at Craft Beer Market. A fundraising effort for the family of an Edmonton police officer killed in the line of duty earlier this year. I have it on decent authority that this was contract brewed up at Fat Unicorn in metro Plamondon, Alberta.
This beer appears a slightly hazy, medium copper amber hue, with one thick finger of puffy, pleasantly foamy, and faintly creamy ecru head, which leaves a decent array of pitted limestone wall lace around the glass as it slowly and evenly abates.
It smells of bready, doughy caramel malt, a soft biscuity white cracker character, red apple skin, muddled citrus flesh, and earthy, leafy, and mildly grassy hops. The taste is semi-sweet, grainy caramel malt, a weaker wet breakfast biscuit edginess, some sugary pome and generic citrus fruitiness, and more leafy weedy, and damp grassy hop bitters.
The carbonation is adequate for the supportive and frivolous tasks at hand, the body a decent middleweight, and fairly smooth, with an attendant creaminess as things warm up a tad. It finishes on the sweet side for the style, yet moderated well enough by hop and sneaky alcohol alike.
I gotta say, I was feeling a bit of trepidation about this one after the last Two Sergeants offering. Turns out I had nothing to worry about, other than negotiating late summer construction hell in downtown Edmonchuk just to get to this joint. An easy-drinking, if somewhat sweet rendition of an ESB, but overall, it's quite good.
