Served on tap in a tumbler glass at Brix City Brewing in Little Ferry, NJ.
A: Pours black with a one finger, finely foamy, wheat color head, cap retention and full, broad rings of lacing.
S: Aromas of coffee, chocolate (like a NECCO candy), cola, and sarsaparilla.
T: Sweet to semisweet. Flavors follow the nose with finely balanced bitterness.
M: Medium to full bodied and moderate carbonation.
O: A very nice and crunchable American Porter.

On-tap @ Brix City Brewing in Little Ferry, NJ.

Very dark brown with good clarity, which is visible around the around the edges. Medium tan head that settles to a thin film after the pour.

Big chocolate aroma backed by roasted malt. The aroma sings with malt but the flavor brings out ample bitterness from the hops. Clean and bitter finish. Medium-full bodied.

A straightforward Porter that lets the ingredients do the talking. Easy to drink.

On tap at brewery:
A nice deep brown body, but the lack of head and very thin, non-lace producing ring gives one the impression of a flat beer. The beer is a little light on carbonation but not flat.

The nose is light, but fits the style well, roasted malt, unsweetened chocolate, light hint of dark brown sugar countered well by a woodsy hop note.

Taste is a nice mix of those roasted malts, lightly burnt sugar, charred grain toast/husks, and a pine wood bitterness. Some detractions but a decent offering where it counts most.

16oz tallboy, sample from the brewery.

Black with edges of dark brown, tan lacing leaves a trail down the glass. Big league smoothness, slightly creamy body within a nearly full body. Suggestions of dark chocolate, espresso, charcoal, & burnt toast. Ample bitterness from the hops and roasted character. Its robust but not over the top, drinkable but bold. A very enjoyable Porter.

Pours dark brown with ruby highlights and a finger of creamy tan head that settles to a thin film and leaves behind good lacing. Aroma is subdued but has lightly burnt malts with some caramel and grainy notes. Lightly burnt malt is the dominant flavor here but it doesn't overwhelm. I also get toffee and caramel but the finish is relatively dry. Medium bodied with moderate+ carbonation. Overall I found this beer to be more than the sum of its parts. It's. Tasty and drinkable Porter; I'd be even happier if the ANV were a bit lower so I could session this.
