Just Another IPA? That's what this was as I had no idea what variant this was since the can didn't state Nelson Sauvin or New Zealand but had the same ABV as those and not the 6% that was listed on this can. Top top it off, this wasn't dated, like any of the other Brix City beers that I have in my stash, so I'm not even sure how old this was. I'm sure this was better fresh but to me, this was just another IPA as it went down mindlessly and effortlessly...

Typical golden, hazy pour to this New England-style IPA with the accompanying head and frothy lacing down the side of my pint glass, although none of that was along the top. Banana, tea, and dank tropical hops were in the muted nose as the taste contained all of those as well. Dank, herbal, and fairly soft, this was balanced out by a crackery malt and somewhat slick mouthfeel. A bit more carbonation would have been nice but at least the sediment was at a minimum and the aftertaste wasn't terribly dry or putrid.

Whatever the ABV was, it was fine and hardly noticeable. If I had to show someone what a textbook, typical IPA was, I'd give them this can and tell them that it's just the tip of the iceberg to what's out there. I'm sure it was better fresh but probably not to that great an extent. To me, this was just another IPA...

Appearance: Arrives cloudy with a honey color; the modest cap leaves a few shards

Smell: Papaya and passionfruit with a cracker base

Taste: Papaya and cracker forward with the passionfruit arriving the the middle; light bitterness with a relatively dry finish

Mouthfeel: Medium body with moderate carbonation

Overall: A good standard but not particularly distinctive

16oz into a spiegelau hazy looking yellow brown like peeing with an std or apple juice with a few glugs of chocolate milk in it. 1 1/2 inch head. i hate cloudy ass beers. hazy brah! smells yeasty, vaguely tropical, hints of sweet tea, plum and some mustard. it feels like a beer maybe poured and hour ago. some tight bubbles on front end but then totally flat on the swallow. too smooth taste. it's sweet not too sweet but not bitter at all a little. for me it's got basically no taste and i can drink it like water. not tropical not bitter not offensive not impressive.

Hmmm this one is really a step down from the New zealand version. Looks like it would be packed with flavor but it doesn't fully deliver. The smell is very faint with maybe some peach and citrus. The taste is crackery malts throughout which lingers through the finish. Hops are faint light fruits. Minimal bitterness. nb

On tap at Verona Inn. Unheard of Jersey brewery, relatively new to the game. Makes a mark for themselves with this brew. Hits home with a well balanced rendition of hops packing a powerful East Coast piney punch for real flavor and drinkability. Good stuff. Recommended.

The citra hops give a nice fruity overtone without being overpowering. A very well balanced IPA that has the right amount of bitterness. This is hands down my favorite IPA. I've yet to find another craft IPA that even comes close to this one.
