On draught at Capital Craft. Served in tulip glass. It pours a dark walnut--nearly black--with a moderate light mocha colored head and a creamy sheen of lacing that lasted through the pour. It has a pleasant nose of roasty malt, chocolate, and a hint of coffee. Based on the smell I wasn't expecting such a sensational flavor: freshly-brewed coffee and malted milk chocolate, with notes of caramel and nuts. As the glass warms the chocolate really emerges, rich and decadent. There is a slight bitterness at the finish. The delightful mouth feel is creamy and viscous with light but pleasing carbonation. This stout drinks below its 9.5% ABV. Overall, I'm really impressed. In fact, I think this is the best Brix City offering I've had yet. Everything's right about it. I think that if I had it at closer to room temperature, then the look and smell would have been better and my rating would be through the roof.
