If it had a creamy mouth feel and a better head it would be a 4.5 star beer

Well...this looks thin, smells metallic and tastes like a watered down Rickard's Red. Definitely not a great effort from FGB.

341ml bottle, part of the Fort Garry mixed pack.
This beer pours a clear, medium red-brick amber hue, with two fingers of puffy, loosely foamy, and fizzy beige head, which leaves little beyond a few random specks of streaky lace around the glass as it quickly settles.
It smells of bready, semi-sweet caramel malt, slightly tart generic dark orchard fruit, a hint of bubblegum (the yeast?), and very subtle earthy, weedy hops. The taste is grainy, somewhat bready malt, an echo of the caramel that once was, a dry, flinty metallic edge, some mild, plain stone pit fruitiness, and soft, murmuring earthy, musty hops.
The carbonation is moderate, yet a bit tugging at times, the body medium-light in weight, and a wee bit too edgy to proclaim decidedly smooth. It finishes trending dry, the malt gone grainy, and the maudlin hops standing as they were.
Much more in line with what I expect (unfortunately) from Canadian red ales - some caramel, some unbecoming hops, and an unpleasant edginess, here in the metallic form. Shades of Rickard's Red, is what I mostly get with this one.

Dark, amber brown apperance with small head that quickly disappears leaving some lacing. Smell consists of caramel, honey and bread. Nothing very strong though.
Sweet, caramel taste with a hint of brown sugar and floral hops. Picked up some bread, malt, honey and toffee as well. Medium bodied with moderate carbonation. Aftertaste is a lingering malty and brown sugar taste.
Overall, this is a very sweet, but flavorful beer. Worth a try if you come across it at a store, a little to sweet though to drink all night.

A - Pours a copper brown with a red hue, thin layer of large bubbly head which dissipates quickly leaving no lacing. Lots of visible carbonation in the glass.
S - Slight sweet scent of caramel and bready malts. Not overly strong with respect to scents, though I didn't have much in terms of expectations.
T - Bready malts with a slight hop flavour. Sweet caramel and toffee flavours are noticeable on the after-taste.
M - Pretty light, a little too carbonated though for my liking though.
D - An average red ale, nothing overly memorable, but by no means terrible. Would've liked a little more sweet malts on this one.
