Pours clear before the yeast drops in, giving it a hazy, dark straw color (SRM 3-4). The head is a short-lived one and a half inches of fluff. The white head falls to a wispy fog, leaving no lace.
The aroma opens with light tartness and singed marshmallow. Spicy hops and a hint of oak that builds with warmth. Coriander fits in there someplace.
The oak is much more present in the flavor than it was in the aroma. Tartness and coriander match the aroma. Once one notices the line, it goes through the roof. The finish is long and tart, while oak tannins build dramatically. Alcohol esters are surprisingly evident.
It has a light body and sharp nylon texture. Alcohol, as noted above, is surprisingly present for a 4.2% beer. Carbonation is soft and almost flat.
This is a tasty beer. It is a bit challenging, however, it is very interesting.
