A West Coast inspired IPA brewed for our GM Thom Desrochers who is moving back to Cali. We brewed this beer with flaked oats and honey malt, DDH with Cascade, Columbus, Centennial, Citra and Simcoe. This aggressively hopped IPA bursts with aromatics of melon, citrus and pine. Intense flavors and bitterness are balanced win a honey like malt sweetness with a deep gold color.

Pours a hazy deep gold with a fluffy white head; good cap retention; solid ring; medium lacing. Tangerine juice and lemon drops nose; onion and some skunky (Simcoe) earthiness as it warms. Semi sweet tangerine, lemon zest, a little orange peel bitterness; green melon, grapefruit and some pine on the backend. Medium body, smooth feel, moderate carbonation. Overall very drinkable; good balance between sweet and bitter; not too filling; however, pricey at $7/16 oz can at the bottle shoppe.

A: The beer is very hazy to cloudy dark, pale yellow in color. It poured with a half finger high white head that left lots of streaks of bubbles clinging to the sides fo the glass and a large patch of bubbles on the surface.
S: Moderately strong flavors of gooseberries are present in the nose.
T: The taste has flavors of gooseberries and lime and finishes with hints of pine in the finish. There is also a light amount of bitterness and this is mostly in the finish.
M: It feels medium-bodied and both juicy and smooth on the palate with a moderate amount of carbonation. There are some hints of crispness in the finish.
O: This beer beer seems like a hybrid between a New England IPA and a West Coast IPA. It starts off like an East Coast IPA with all of the juicy flavors of hops and leaves you with some pine and bitterness in the finish - or on your way back to Cali.

A really tasty beer. The only detraction was the brownish orange murky color, which was a touch off-putting. But the smell was a nice mix of floral and fruity, and the taste was very nice. It was actually sweeter than I expected, since it was called a West Coast IPA. but I found it nicely balanced and drinkable.
