The head fills the glass before you've finished pouring. I've never seen a porter with such an enthusiastic head. After it diminishes, the tan head is quite persistent. The color of the beer is very dark, like black coffee; The taste is not bad but not remarkable; Same for the mouthfeel; I received a 6-pak as a Christmas gift. from my lovely sister, who lives near the brewery. In my humble opinion there is a loose correlation between flavor and ABV. Wesser Evil is only 5.75%, but I am enjoying it.

Picked up a single from the Airport Road Ingles cooler on 10-17-24 for $2.00. No canning date; consumed 12-4-24. Cold stored since purchase.
Beer poured dark brown with a very nice tan head that is very long lasting.
Nose is some toast and roast and not much else.
Taste is a lighter malt base that brings a combination of toasted, roasted, and chocolate. Hopping is spot on to balance things out.
Mouthfeel is light to medium bodied and pretty refreshing.
Overall, i am thinking this can has been around a while as there are hints of astringency in the nose and taste. Will have to retry as i think Lazy Hiker does some solid brews.

Purchased as a single 12oz can from Ingles for $1.99. Poured into a nonic pint glass.
L - Clear - yet dark - mahogany with a one-finger tan head. Head goes away rather quick. Okay lacing.
S - Toffee, dark chocolate, and dark toast.
T - Follows nose, with a further emphasis on brown sugar & heavily roasted chocolate notes. Light bitterness.
F - Medium-bodied, with medium carbonation. Extremely drinkable.
O - A straight-forward porter. No frills, and definitely not underwhelming. A good beer to keep in the fridge at all times. Worth a try.

Drinking this at The Lazy Hiker Brewery in Downtown Sylva NC.
Poured from a tap into a pint glass.
Looks dark brown almost black with a nice foamy tannish head that dropped quickly to a thin cap.
Smells malty sweet spicy chocolate.
Taste follows the nose nicely.
Mouth feel is medium for the style.
Overall living in Western NC this a staple often found in restaurants, tap rooms and in cans on the shelf.
I will definitely order again, in fact I can't believe I am just now reviewing this excellent example of a Porter.
Cheers!

Fresh on tap at Lazy Hiker pub on Main St. in Sylva, NC
GReat dark body, lightly tan head (super hot young lady gave a light 1/4" off-white/creme head, to give the perfect full pint- excellent) I buy this in 6 pack cans a few times a year, and it will give a taller head if wanted)
Aromas are toasted dark malts, with toffee notes, very classic and clean on the taste, and easy to finish very fast.
A great straight-ahead classic porter in its clarity and no added flavor gimmicks. Highly recommended if you like real classic porter.

Sweet malt. Notes of toffee and chocolate. Reminds me of chocolate biscotti. A little too sweet for my liking, but not bad.
