Currants are a misunderstood berry, often banished to the back of grocery store shelves, collecting dust, hidden behind everyone's favorite mainstream berry jams and jellies. Well it's finally their time to shine in this sacc-trois sour with 840 lbs of the little guys and a light grain bill of flaked and malted wheat. Never again will they play second fiddle!

Cloudy tan-ruby color. Poured a bright pink medium sized head that quickly collapsed into larger bubbles and then into a patchy skiff after half a minute. Too cloudy to see the carbonation level. Left no lacing.
Strong fresh berry scent. There is a spicy, funky scent that takes over from the berry. Some light yeast. Swirling the glass kicked up a light barnyard and more of the berry.
Complex tart berry flavor. A mild barnyard shows up as part of the berry flavor; very well blended flavors. A bit of yeast funk. Some light malt shows up towards the end. The aftertaste is mostly tart berry, but the malt comes back.
Quickly turns into a coarse foam. Feels a little oily. Medium-heavy body. Somewhat astringent along with the aftertaste.
Very enjoyable, however it doesn't really seem much like a beer. Only the little bit of malt suggests the origin of this drink when it is in a glass. This would be good for the people you know who don't like beer as an introduction to the field.
