Notes:
Jam-packed with Citra, Mosaic, Simcoe and El Dorado, Black the Riipper lives up to it's name sake and slays your tastebuds. Keep your eyes open, don't let the color confuse you or you may be the next victim of this hop monster.

Had on-tap at The Brewhouse in San Juan Capistrano, CA
Appearance - Served up in a nonic pint, near black / deep cola brown in color. Thin, broken layer of suds across the top. Nice lacing, with broken sheeting, lines and small spotting.
Smell - Moderate aroma with fair roast and grapefruit, and hints of chocolate, caramel and pine.
Taste - A nice blend of roast, caramel and chocolate maltiness, while hops come through with classic grapefruit and pine bitterness. Balanced finish.
Mouthfeel - Medium in body with fair carbonation. Smooth, easy drinker before a semi-dry finish.
Overall - Solid, classic Black IPA. Where have they all gone?? One style that I definitely miss seeing around as often as it used to be.

On tap at Provisions in Orange, CA.
This is what I like about this beer: like my ex girlfriend, it doesn’t suck.
Then there’s what I don’t like: like my ex girlfriend, it’s one dimensional.
So, it’s cool as in it’s not offensive. Still, it doesn’t really excite me.
I’m gone.

5oz taster pour at the brewery. Supposedly a recent award winner. Good appearance with a dark brown/copper look. Moderate bitterness. Not much malt character. Mosaic, simcoe, and el dorado hops. A bit muddled on the hop notes. Drinks easy for a 7%. Crisp and inoffensive. Decent pour and worth a try once.
