The nose was extremely vegetal, but not in a bad way; think leaves, but not dead burning leaves, fresh leaves. It was very distinct. The flavor was distinct gooseberry as well. Nice tartness. Well done.

Pours a clear light crimson with a foamy reddish-tan head that fades to nothing. Tiny dots of lace drip into the remaining beer on the drink down. Smell is slightly sour with buttered toast, berry jam, and slight cheesy aromas. Taste is much the same with sour grain, berry, funk, earth, and wood flavors on the finish. There is a mild amount of acidity on the palate with each sip. This beer has a good level of carbonation with a crisp and dry mouthfeel. Overall, this is a pretty good beer with solid sour berry aromas and an interesting buttered toast aroma that I wasn't expecting.

Serving type: bottle.
