Had this at the Strange Brew Festival 2018 at Brewer's Cabinet in Reno. This was one of the more normal brews yesterday.
Pours a well, brown colored porter. It isn't a giant imperial porter like we've seen in recent years, this is more like the older traditional ones that are more aptly described now as being like a half brown ale half porter. Pours as such, barely a perceptible off white head to beige head forms. Aroma had some mild pepper notes, seemed to get more of the ancho chile than habanero (thankfully).
Taste was a mild brown ale moreso than porter, plenty of brown malt noticed. It wasn't a scorching hot chile presence, they did good with that. I dunno, there's a million chile porters now and most of them are ho hum so this wasn't a big disappointment or anything, it was a normal chile brown ale essentially, I guess that is what made it part of strange brew, nonetheless, appreciated being able to drink something not completely stupid and out there.
