Sounded too interesting to pass up. And hey, a 12oz bottle of 10% Belgian Strong Pale for $2.69 sealed the deal.
Pours a nice cloudy amber color with a 1 finger slightly fizzy white head that does leave a bit of lacing. Smells of Belgian spices, tropical fruits - pineapples and such - and toffee. Nice.
Taste is surprisingly good. Toffee, caramel, pineapple/tropical fruits, spices and Belgian Yeast. They say this is aged already for 2 years - this is believable. The balance here is exceptional and drinks like much less than 10%. Very nice.
Mouothfeel is rich and smooth without being heavy. Drinkability is exceptional - still don't quite believe that this is 10%!
Highly recommended. This is a tasty, balanced, inexpensive and accessible Belgian Strong Pale. Give it a try!

12 oz. bottle, says it was brewed for the 12th Annual Mammoth Festival of Beers and Bluesapalooza, says aged for 2 years, 10%, poured into a Duvel tulip, picked up a bottle at Hi-Times Wine Cellars in Costa Mesa, CA,
A: Pours an orange marmalade colour into my Duvel tulip, with an average head, white, a 3-pointed star of remnant head remains as the beer is drunk, with a large concentration of bubbles in the middle, limited lacing.
S: This certainly smells Belgian, with a huge pear scent coming as soon as you open the glass, a bit of apple is there too, with a hint of spice, I could smell notes of cinnamon, white pepper, and a bit of orange peel.
T: Heavy pear estery flavour, with some orange and lemon, some apple esters as well. There is a slight undercurrent of earthy, grassy hops, but it is real hard to taste, you need to concentrate to taste it.
M: Light for a 10% beer, spritzy, high in carbonation, but it doesn't overwhelm the flavour, quite phenolic as well.
D: A good beer, easy to drink, even for its size, one of the best American-style Belgians that I have ever had, its flavours really reminded me of Stone 7.7.7 as a side note, another good one by Mammoth.
