1st review of this beer on BA. Mammoth didn't divulge their offerings at the Strange Brew festival ahead of time, so you just kind of showed up and saw what they had. This one didn't sound disgusting so I gave it a try, and was surprised it was one of the better beers of the festival held on May 18, 2019.
Pours a shade of color that is more akin to sangria than your traditional gose. Light red and purple color, looks a little bit like a cranberry vodka, thin almost nonexistant head of about 1/10" in a lighter shade of that purple/pink/red regime. Had that red wine barrel nose to it, earth, dark grape, dark oak nose. Not much for salinity there, still hasn't shown itself to me much of a traditional gose by any means.
Taste was where it excelled, there was a brackish in the slightest form of a red wine meets gose vibe going on, a little bit of dark cherry and blackberry note to it. The mouth feel was very dry. Lots of oak and tannin dryness. Was a good beer, glad to have checked it out, shit I'd even vote they package this one up. They haven't had many new recipes the last 20 years, might be time.
