unique and slightly strange beer, on tap and lead dog in sparks, i believe mammoth acquired them, so quite a few of their beers on tap in here. this is dullish brick toned red, maybe a shade more toward candy apple in the right light, but lacking the brightness, not as vibrant in color as anticipated, a little thin looking too for its stronger than normal for the style abv, and hardly any head at all after they pour it, although it does retain some soda type bubbles. the aroma of this is good, maybe the best part of it, tangy and relatively natural cherry, some cherry candy sweetness and concentrated fruit punch type character too, almost nothing from the malt which is kind of odd, a little something lemony from the bacterial souring, which is pretty clean and restrained too, not too much acidity on this but my mouth still waters a little, maybe just off fully clean and tidy, but its not cheesy or cheap or gross at all either. the flavor is pretty good, its just really simple, a little sweet on the cherry itself, but with the sourness it approximates real cherries, but there is almost no malt to this at all, the the hops are minimal as well, so its fully one dimensional, even with the pucker. i like the acid being tame, makes this more drinkable, and there is a little lemon lime soda thing happening, but it stays on my teeth a little bit and seems to be missing something, much as its pleasant to sip on. very light for its alcohol content, strangely so, summery in a way, almost cider-esque a little bit to me too. not the most dynamic fruited sour out there, but its better than all the lactose, marshmallow, vanilla milkshake ones out there crowding the style...
