Goofy Regular Hazy IPAGoofy Regular Hazy IPA
Notes: Goofy Regular Hazy IPA features a goofy amount of Citra, Ekuanot, Amarillo, and Idaho 7 hops. This wave of hops has a lot of juice*, but levels itself off with a complex hop aroma of tropical fruit, melon, grapefruit zest, gooseberry, and stone fruit, with notes of pine.

a: cloudy; copper in color; 1 finger off white head that receded to a wispy cp; OK lacing;

S: slight sourness;

T: not pleasant; drinkable, but no flavor that reminds me of an IPA of any kind; mild bitterness on the finish;

M: medium bodied; moderate carbonation; moderately dry finish;

O: stamp on the bottom is illegible, but since this was a limited release and was added in 12/18, it's clear that this is old;

Definitely cloudy brew. It's drinkable enough and actually less murky tasting than a lot of NE brews. Citrus aroma. Hops are more complex than just the orange juice taste. There's a hint of mango and lime. Sudsy mouthfeel but then acidic. Finishes with the variations on astringency-- grapefruit pith, grape seeds,, cherry stems-- but the fruit cocktail taste lingers. From the 16 oz can purchased at Barons Market.

Picked this up with five others at Windmill Farms. Not the biggest fan of Duck Foot from what I’d had so far, giving Secret Spot a 3.81 and only kind of enjoying a previous flight within the first few months they opened. Can description read, “Goofy Regular Hazy IPA features a goofy amount of Citra, Ekuanot, Amarillo and Idaho 7 hops. This wave of hops has a lot of juice, but levels itself off with a complex hop aroma of tropical fruit, melon, grapefruit zest, gooseberry, and stone fruit, with notes of pine.”

Did not look like a hazy IPA. (NOTE: later called it an American IPA). Poured a copper-to-reddish brown semi-murky color with two fingers of khaki white frothy head Lots of fast moving bubbles coming up from the bottom of the glass. Outstanding spotty lacing. Excellent retention. (Sight - 4.25)

Smelled that Idaho 7 right away. Also the Ekuanot and Citra. Digging deeper got melon, grapefruit, herbal, green pepper, trash, caramel malts and pine. A little better out of the can with more pronounced hops, stone fruit and grapefruit. (Smell - 3.75)

Tasted a lot like the smell, which seemed more reddish IPA or hoppy amber than New England Style. Got Idaho 7, melon. Ekuanot, green pepper, herbal, pine, caramel malt, spoiled orange peel, Citra and red grapefruit. Grew on me as it went down. (Taste - 3.75)

Medium body. Oily texture. Lively carbonation. Earthy, bitter finish. (Feel - 3.75)

Once I figured out the style to this one, it was very good. (Overall - 3.75)
