I bought a can of this off the Binnys single shelf. It poured a clear rich amber with white head that is leaving a spotty lace. The scent had hints of caramel malt. The taste was nicely balanced an easy to drink. The mouthfeel was lighter in body with good carbonation. Overall its a good beer.

Taste: Bready, barley malt may be a bit toothy, notes o tart and hop in finish. Toasted caramel malt nose. Dark amber in color, clear with a tan foamy head.

Served from a can in an Ohio State shaker pint glass.
So a production brewery recently opened up a few blocks away from my house. Right on, let's give their flagship/introductory offering a try, eh? It pours a clear copper-amber topped by over a finger of light beige foam. The nose comprises mild caramel, dark grass, light lettuce, light sweet flowers, and a touch of vague citrus peel. The taste brings in more of the same, with a stronger contingent of grassy/vegetal hops up front and a bit of dried toffee in the finish. The body is a light medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a slightly slick feel. Overall, this is a pretty solid beer. It's nothing that will threaten to shatter the Earth or anything, but it stands pretty closely to Sam Adams Boston Lager, in that it's thoroughly inoffensive, it's still got some flavor, and it isn't trying too hard to do anything but be. Not gonna lie, I was worried when I heard that my new hometown brewery was leading off with only a canned alt (just seemed kinda random to me), but it didn't turn out half bad. Fair enough. I look forward to trying their future releases.
