I think this is pretty well done. This tastes pretty well crafted to me for such an upstart operation. I'd rank this higher than the comparable Pipeworks offering. Well done guys

Served on tap in a pint glass at Beelow's.
Having successfully tried the altbier from the can, I went full-bore into the nearest tap to me. This stuff pours a deep garnet topped by a finger of sandy foam. The nose comprises mild candied grapefruit peel, toffee, a hint of chocolate powder, and a decent amount of dark greenery. The taste brings in more of the same, the grapefruit playing well against the caramel and mild cocoa backdrop, and a nice grassy character provides a pleasant finish. The body is a stolid medium, with a light moderate carbonation and a dry finish. Overall, a damn solid imperial red, a style I don't gravitate toward often. I like this one better than the alt, if for no other reason than it feels deeper, more fleshed-out, more "finished", if that makes sense. Right on, local boys.
