Traded for this beer a few months ago and finally got around to it tonight, right after the second version of this was released. Didn't have any particular expectations for this beer but my gosh, this turned out to be the best offering that I've had from Magnify up until now as it was so juicy, tasty, and smooth for being over 10% ABV!
This had an odd pour to it as the beer was a dank amber with lots of floaties in, though this wasn't even two months old when I cracked it open! More than enough head was found here and only one strong ring of lacing was to be seen, with some suds draped below it. A good amount of tropical fruit and Simcoe was in the nose but whoa, the taste! All of those were "magnified" once I took a sip of this as this was pure juice and nothing else. Slick, smooth, and balanced, there was just a hint of dankness and earthy hops to give this the depth and color that it needed. Well balanced and low in carbonation, the consistency of this was waxy and oily. Yes, this had a California feel though it was brewed right in my own backyard!
In addition, this was strong but I only felt it once the liquid went down. It reminded me a bit of cough syrup in terms of the thickness but in the end, this was an easy winner. Can't wait to try to newer version of this as the 420 and subtle pine lingered long after everything else went down. Easily Magnify's best beer and good enough to stand toe-to-toe with any other Triple IPA that you could find. A must-try!
